“If you run, you are a runner. It doesn’t matter how fast or how far. It doesn’t matter if today is your first day or if you’ve been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run.” – John Bingham
The human body evolved to run long distances for gathering food or escape from dangers. The great ability to bounce through the air is what set us apart from our primate cousins. The endurance running is almost unique to homo sapiens among all other mammals and it improved our chances of survival and reproduction.
Running has made us evolve in the past years and now it continues to improve the daily life of many people, bringing incredible benefits both physically and mentally.
The well-being that comes from the practice is linked with the whole organism, it is a good regular requisite for professional longevity and mental health, a good practice for reducing stress, clearing your mind and also making you more creative. It is also boosting self-esteem, because while running, you are stimulating the production of good mood hormones that are working as a natural antidepressant, decreasing anxiety and daily stress and facilitating sleep at night.
Here at Rightly, we believe in sport as a tool to combine health, engagement, productivity and networking. Running together is a great way to create team spirit and bring together people from different departments, breaking down some invisible barriers and improving collaborations.
Engaging people to take part in sport can therefore become a valuable tool available to companies to enhance the sense of commitment of employees, create a real corporate wellness program and to bring some fun into the workplace. This has an incredible potential influence also on our cognitive functions, increasing the employees learning abilities and creating a more creative thinking environment.
All these reasons led us to create a Rightly Running Team. The Rightly Running Team meets twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday at 8am to be ready and fresh for an awesome day at work. Nothing stops the runners, we are not afraid of rain or cold weather, especially if a nice warm office is waiting for us.
We encourage our Team to be fit together, but also to be healthy in mind and body because if you want to be a resilient thought-leader, you must be able to flex all the muscles.
Running teaches us to set a precise goals and work with perspicacity to achieve it, the steps of improvements are small and sometimes not easy to perceive, a lot of determination is required to see an improvement. No lesson is more appropriate for the daily work life.
Run, Rightly, Run!
